Action Research Blog Submission for Month 9

The measurement tools I used in Cycle 1 and Cycle 2 are both quantitative and qualitative in that I have used formal measurements and observations as well as running records and anecdotal notes.

Since Cycle 2 is not yet complete I can't do a formal comparison between the two cycles but I can say there is marked improvement in score attainment from the beginning of Cycle 1 to the beginning of Cycle 2, which I have just begun.

My students are very excited about the project. I am excited because I see so much improvement in the data I have already collected. My students are performing at a higher level than students have performed over a five year measurement period.

My group is a controlled group, that being they are Title 1 students. I am hoping to be able to continue this research in a broader spectrum over the next two to three years.

The GSM course is playing a major part in my project in that I have already incorporated some of the strategies into my Cycle 2 portion of my research. My students love gaming. Unfortunately, most of what I want to share with them is blocked.

Learner responses have been great and measurable in that there is at least a 55% increase in learning gains overall which is phenomenal.

I will be posting a portion of their projects with my final project assignment to show what they have accomplished. Hopefully the video previous to this post will play so that you can listen to the students themselves what they think of their project.
